Visitors coming to town means that Muscatine has to temporarily close part of Riverside Park.

A news release from the city says the boat launch and parking lot downriver of the Iowa Avenue entrance to Riverside Park will be closed on Tuesday, October 1, from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m. for the arrival of American Symphony, one of three cruise ships owned by the American Cruise Lines. The parking lot is closing to allow American Cruise Line buses to pick up passengers and take them to visit destinations in Muscatine.

The American Symphony will arrive at about 10 p.m. on Monday, September 30 and passengers will disembark to explore Muscatine from 8 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The cruise ship is scheduled to depart Muscatine at 1 p.m. Tuesday and after it departs, the parking lot will be reopened to the public.
