A Galesburg man has been sentenced in a 2019 case involving a wrong-way chase down Brady Street in Davenport.

Zaccheus Hayes, 27, pleaded guilty to one count of eluding, a class D felony, and one count of felon in possession of a firearm, also a class D felony. He was sentenced in the Iowa District Court for Scott County to a term not to exceed five years for each charge.

The sentences will run concurrently, or at the same time. Hayes will receive credit for time spent in the Scott County Jail in connection with the case. Two other counts, interference with official acts – firearm and carrying weapons, were dismissed. He was issued a $750 fine, which was suspended by the court.

Hayes was sentenced in July to 18 years in prison after pleading guilty to an unrelated, amended charge of second-degree murder in the shooting death of Christopher Bivens of Bettendorf in 2023.
