Hear the soulful sounds of “Rhapsody and the Blues” with celebrated Canadian trumpet virtuoso Jens Lindemann at the Capitol Theater in Burlington on Friday, October 18 at 7:30 p.m. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. The Capitol Theater is located at 211 N. Third Street in Burlington.

Lindemann is a former member of the Canadian Brass and a Grammy and Juno awards nominee. He’s performed with major symphonies like the London Symphony and New York Philharmonic and has been featured at Carnegie Hall and the Berlin Philharmonie.

“Rhapsody and the Blues” will highlight Lindemann’s range, blending jazz improvisation with classical precision. The concert will include blues classics, original compositions and a 100-year anniversary arrangement of George Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.” Working with a piano accompanist, his performance will take listeners through the world of American music, from smokey blues clubs to concert halls.

“Jens Lindemann is a force of nature on the trumpet,” said Barb McRoberts, Burlington Civic Music’s program director. “His ability to fuse the technical brilliance of classical music with the emotional depth of blues and jazz makes ‘Rhapsody and the Blues’ a special experience. We’re thrilled to have him as part of Burlington Civic Music’s season.”

“With a performance style that bridges multiple musical traditions, Lindemann’s ‘Rhapsody and the Blues’ is set to be one of the most talked-about cultural events of the year in Burlington,” said Kay Conrad, Burlington Civic Music. “Whether you’re a seasoned jazz fan, a classical and jazz music lover or simply looking for an exceptional night out, this concert will deliver an extraordinary musical journey.”
