UPDATE: A news release from the City of Davenport has more details on the leak at Kraft Heinz this morning.

According to the release, the Davenport Fire Department was called to Kraft Heinz about 6:40 a.m. for an ammonia leak detected on site. All staff members were safely evacuated from the plant by the time the Hazardous Materials Team arrived.

First responders and company staff traced the problem back to an internal cooking system. The problem was isolated, the hazard was mitigated and the affected area was ventilated. Monitoring equipment set up within a mile of the company confirmed there were no issues related to the leak outside the plant.

No employee injuries were reported and the company will monitor the air as a follow-up.
