The former director of Niabi Zoo received a seven-year prison sentence for charges of aggravated theft and conspiracy.

Tom Stalf pleaded guilty to stealing more than $2 million while he was the CEO of the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium in Ohio. Stalf apologized in court and took full responsibility. He will be eligible for early release in about five years.

Stalf was ordered to pay $315,573 in restitution to cover what he bought with the zoo’s money.
