Quarterback kaz rabarcak living the good life on the football field and leaning on experience. Single season passing yards, game passing yards, career passing touchdowns and single season passing touchdowns. Four Davenport North school records. Second in the state of Iowa in passing yards and fifth in touchdowns.

“Last year I just didn’t have the experience starting under my belt,” Kaz said. “This year I’ve grown in the game and just seeing the field a lot better.”

It’s all about progression for him this year,” head coach Adam Hite said. “Developing his eyes and knowing where the key receivers are.”

He has a great football IQ and when were under pressure knows how to handle those situations,” running back Mason Bogan said. “Stays calm and knows how to go through the process.”

He’s always at practice at time. Prepared in the classroom. Brings the team together and is a great leader,” receiver Cunnell Burrage said. “Keeps the guys grounded. When he gets the time to throw the ball, makes the big play happen.

Kaz’s competitiveness and work ethic come from his wrestling background as a kid.

I use to wrestle as a kid and really competitive in that,” Kaz said. “Wrestling is a tough sport and taught me to get after it and always go 100 percent.”

“I’d rather watch him compete than be in the weight room,” Hite said. “It’s really provided that physical side of things where he’s not afraid to run the ball and be a true competitor out there.

Kaz’s success throwing the ball has caught of the eye Northen Iowa where he’ll be playing football next fall hoping to create a path for those under him.

“I’m hoping it translates down to the younger guys. The JV is having a great season. I’m really hoping they look up to me and the other guys on the varsity level as leaders.”

With two games left in the regular season, there’s still more history for the Wildcats to make. A first playoff appearance since 2020.

“We know this is playoff mentality. Lose one game and were probably done. If we win two then have a good shot of making the big dance. That’s all were looking to do. Once you’re in, anything can happen.”

North can get one win closer to the big dance, Thursday night at Brady Street Stadium against Muscatine.
