An autopsy was conducted Wednesday at the Peoria County Coroner’s Office on the 16-year-old girl whose death has been ruled as strangulation.

Per the wishes of her mother, the victim has been identified as Jaedyn A. Hill.

The Lee County State’s Attorney’s Office has filed charges alleging four counts of first degree murder against 17-year-old David J. Sosa of Ashton. He is being charged as an adult. The charges carry a sentencing range of 20 to 60 years in prison.

After a detention hearing was held Wednesday, Sosa was remanded to the Kane County Juvenile Detention Center because he is 17.

The investigation began shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday when the sheriff’s office received a call from the Rochelle Police about a person who walked into their lobby.

He was identified as David J. Sosa, who said that he was involved in a murder. Rochelle Police took the information and provided the apartment address in Ashton for Lee County deputies to conduct a welfare check. The body of Jaedyn Hill was found inside the apartment.

Sosa and Hill, who were in a dating relationship, lived at the apartment.

The Lee County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Lee County Juvenile Probation Department, the Rochelle Police Department, the Illinois State Police – Crime Scene Services, the Lee County Coroner’s Office, and the Peoria County Coroner’s Office assisted with the investigation.

The Lee County Sheriff’s Office asks anyone with information about the case to call the Lee County Sheriff’s Office at 815-284-6631 or Crime Stoppers at 1-888-CAUGHT-U. Callers can remain anonymous and receive rewards of up to $1,000 if their information leads to an arrest.
