Davenport firefighters helped raise spirits at the Genesis Cancer Infusion Center yesterday with donations of care bags.

Members of Davenport Association of Professional Firefighters Local #17 raised money by selling t-shirts to assemble the bags, which include blankets, word games, puzzles and note pads. Patients can use the bags to carry personal items while receiving treatments. The bags were delivered to patients on Wednesday, October 16.

This year alone, it is estimated that 360,000 people will be diagnosed with breast cancer. Breast Cancer Awareness Month, held every October, educates the public about cancer, its causes and the benefits of screenings.
