    Davenport man sentenced to 15 years for methamphetamine charges

    A Davenport man was sentenced for methamphetamine charges.

    According to public court documents, Richard Murphy, 42, sold an ounce of methamphetamine in August 2023. Four days later, law enforcement executed a search warrant at Murphy’s home and found approximately one-half of a pound of meth, which Murphy intended to distribute. Law enforcement also found ten rounds of ammunition. Murphy is a felon and was on probation at the time of the offense.

    According to records, Murphy was sentenced to 15 years in federal prison for possessing a distribution quantity of methamphetamine. Following imprisonment, Murphy will be required to serve a five-year term of supervised release.

    The case was investigated by the Bettendorf Police Department, Davenport Police Department and the Scott County Sheriff’s Office.
