During its fifth annual Focus on Food Month, the GSF Foundation (GSFF) reached a significant milestone by donating the equivalent of 1.35 million meals this year to support food banks aiding food-insecure children and families across the U.S. As school lunch programs pause during the summer, food insecurity worsens and the demand for assistance increases. To address this heightened need, the GSF Foundation mobilized its volunteer-run, associate-funded local committees to enhance the quality of life for struggling children and families in their communities. "Together, with 100 percent engagement this year from all GSFF teams, we exceeded our goal of donating the equivalent of...

Police Rescue Loose Cow In Plano, Texas
Plano, Texas may not be the wild west the way it used to be, but local police officers still have the skills to wrangle cattle. On July 7, 2024, at approximately 7 p.m., Plano police received a call that a loose cow was strolling down the street near State Hwy 121 and Ohio Drive. “Although the grass appeared greener on the other side it was only a matter of time before our city folks called her in,” Plano Police Department said in a Facebook post. “And like true Texans, our public safety officers wrangled the young cow from the wild west of the road and assisted her in finding her way home.” Public Information Office Jennifer Chapman told Local Profile that police returned the cow to owner Nickey James at his farm along EB 121 Service Rd in between Ridgeview and Coit. It’s not clear how the cow made her great escape, but she seemed to enjoy her time wandering the streets of Plano, munching on some grass snacks along the way. Don't miss anything Local.
