After multiple severe storms throughout North Texas, cleanup efforts are still underway. But two parks in Flower Mound, Texas are closed indefinitely. Plano ISD Named Semifinalist For H-E-B Education Awards
In January 2024, Plano Independent School District (ISD) was selected as a semi-finalist for the prestigious H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards, which honor exemplary public school professionals. From over 1,900 applications submitted by educators across Texas, only 25 districts advanced to the regional judging stage. The judging panel comprised former award recipients, school administrators and leaders from universities and communities. The H-E-B Excellence in Education Awards program, established in 2002, recognizes and rewards the dedication and commitment of outstanding public school educators. By investing in students and their communities, H-E-B aims to inspire others to contribute to educational excellence. Since its inception, the program has allocated more than $14 million in funding to exceptional Texas teachers, principals, public schools and districts, school counselors, school boards and early childhood centers. As a semi-finalist, Plano ISD received gift cards worth $1,000 from H-E-B, acknowledging its significant educational contributions.
