LEWISTON, N.Y. — The 65th edition of the Porter Cup, one of the top amateur events in golf, is in the books at Niagara Falls Country Club. On the men's side, Chase Nevins of Great Falls, Va., finished the tournament at 11 under par to earn the victory. Nevins entered the final hole tied with Tonawanda native and Canisius University golfer Ryan Edholm, but Edholm made bogey while Nevins made par to take home the win.

The birth had been long and difficult. Denise Olivio requested a cesarean section, she said, but was rebuffed until a doctor decided it was an emergency. The baby, GianRaul, came out purple, and it took doctors 15 minutes to locate his heartbeat. Hours later, Olivio and her husband — exhausted but relieved that their son had survived — said they saw their doctor and midwife being pulled aside by a man in a suit who they believed was the hospital’s lawyer.

This a big year for Train. Even though there wasn’t a new album released, the band continues to stay busy. They are getting ready to release a new DVD called ‘Train Live at Royal Albert Hall’ on July 26. They just celebrated their 15th anniversary of ‘Save Me, San Francisco’ a few weeks ago. They also sold out their ‘Sail Across the Sun’ cruise back in March. Lastly, the band is currently on tour with Reo Speedwagon and Yacht Rock Revue. They took a detour from that tour to headline their own show at Artpark in Lewiston, NY this past Friday. This was the bands first appearance at Artpark.
