Company awards Smith Memorial Scholarship

City Wide Exterminating has announced the recipient of the 2024 Steven R. Smith Memorial Scholarship.
Established in 2022 to commemorate the memory of Locust’s chief of police, Steven Smith, this scholarship embodies City Wide’s commitment to honoring his legacy within the community.

“The Smith family is integral to our City Wide family. This scholarship serves as our heartfelt tribute and a testament to honoring his family, preserving his memory, and celebrating the lasting mark he left on our community,” President Ashley Morrison said.
The annual scholarship is available to graduating high school seniors in the greater Charlotte metro area, focusing on academic achievement, character and community engagement.
This year’s recipient is Ashtyn Webb, a 2024 graduate of West Stanly High School. Webb intends to pursue a nursing degree at Stanly Community College starting this fall.
“Steven’s goal was consistently to enact positive change in the communities he served and beyond,” Melissa Smith said of her husband. “His ability to inspire others to pursue their passions was unparalleled, and I’m certain he would be profoundly moved by this recognition.”
Applications for the Steven R. Smith Memorial Scholarship will reopen in early 2025. The scholarship, valued at $1,000 annually, will continue to support one high school senior each year. For further details, visit citywideexterm.com/scholarship .
