(FOX40.COM) — A lake in San Joaquin County was recently deemed unsafe for swimmers after officials found “elevated levels of bacteria” during a routine testing of the water.

According to the city of Lodi, the Lodi Lake will be closed until further notice as of Wednesday. Swimming in the lake will be prohibited; however, the peach and wading pool area will remain open.

The city added that the Enze Pool, which is about 4 miles southeast of Lodi Lake, will be open to the public from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. on the Fourth of July to supplement the lake’s closure.

“Lodi Boathouse rentals will not be affected by this closure,” the city continued.

On its website, the city of Lodi adds that Lodi Lake is also under construction and that drivers should be aware of closures to the nature area and boat ramp until Friday, July 5.
