The names of the two people killed on June 28, 2024, allegedly by their son, have been released by the Sacramento County Coroner. 73-year-old Augusto Navarrete and 70-year-old Marjorie Navarrete were identified as the two victims. The suspect, 44-year-old Mark Navarette is being held without bail on felony murder.

Baby found dead in backyard of southeast Fresno home, police say
Crime scene tape blocked off several southeast Fresno streets Tuesday.Detectives walked door to door, speaking with neighbors and laying down crime scene markers.They stopped several times to look into an empty lot that backs up to homes along Backer Avenue.One of those backyards is where Fresno Police say a baby's body was found.That call came in around 6:30 am Tuesday.Police and medical personnel arrived at the home to find a baby, believed to be a newborn, already dead.The news disturbed neighbors."Poor thing, man, cruel people," says Enrique Barrera. "Why do people do things like that, man? That's an angel, a little angel."How the baby died and ended up at a home they didn't live in is still unclear, so investigators are calling this a death investigation.Investigators spent the morning talking to neighbors and the family who lives in the home."Currently, the family is being very cooperative with the investigation," says Fresno Police Lt. Individual Discovered in Antioch Park Amid Larger Safety Concerns
On Monday, the Antioch Police Department responded to a disturbing report of a person found hanging from a tree in a local park. The individual was discovered just before 9:00 am at Yellowstone and Calaveras Cir in the City of Antioch. The police promptly cordoned off the area as they awaited the arrival of the county coroner. A chair was found tipped over next to the person, suggesting the possibility of suicide.

Thieves steal $15,000 in fireworks from school fundraiser, putting school programs in question
SACRAMENTO -- A fireworks stand fundraising for a Sacramento-area school is facing a major setback after thieves stole thousands of dollars worth of fireworks.It happened Monday night in the Bel Air parking lot in Gold River. Volunteers at the fireworks stand say they closed around 10 p.m. and when they returned Tuesday morning, the door on the container was ripped off, and half their supply was gone."It seems like they connected a car to the locks and they just yanked off what they could and took everything they could fit," parent and volunteer Yelena Kopylov-Alford said.The thieves stole more than $15,000 worth of fireworks.The fireworks stand is the school's largest fundraiser for the school. It helps pay for school supplies, music classes and several after-school programs."There are so many things this is paying for so that loss is just devastating," Kopylov-Aford said.Rancho Cordova police are now investigating, but surveillance video in the parking lot does not cover where the stand is located.If you'd like to buy fireworks and support their fundraiser, you can find them in the Bel Air parking lot off Sunrise Boulevard on Wednesday.
