Lodi’s own Kyle Mack will start his first season as football head coach for the Blue Devils. After graduating from Lodi High School in 2004, Mack completed his bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville and went on for his Masters of Arts in Education from St. Mary’s in Minnesota. He has spent more than ten years as a teacher at Lodi High School.

There is an element of unknown with the 2024 Lodi High School football team. None of their starters on offense or defense are returning this season. The unknown is not all bad because the work and dedication that runs through the team this season will steer them towards the end goal Mack wants.

“We will have inexperience at the varsity level, but we look at this as an opportunity for the players and a chance for them to show what they are capable of,” says Mack.

The Capitol conference has been competitive with five of the teams making the playoffs last season. Columbus and Lake Mills are teams that Mack describes as, “well coached and well prepared.” Both of those teams have younger players returning that will add value to their varsity teams. With no starters returning for Lodi, coach Mack talks about how he is looking for success in his team this season.

“We are looking to find the players who will give us the best opportunity for success. There are a number of players at each position and we look forward to seeing them compete for those open positions,” says Mack.

There is a small number of players in the upcoming senior class, which gives the underclassmen an opportunity to see playing time. Among those returning are RB/LB Cameron Dominick, TE/LB Kyle Kurt, WR/DB Jake Ryan and WR/DB Bennett Nyquist, to name a few.

The Lodi Blue Devils start Aug. 23 at home against Monroe.
