    Girls soccer: Lodi earns a tie, falls to Horlick at home quad

    Hosting a quadrangular meet on Saturday, the Lodi girls’ soccer team left with a tie and a loss.

    The Blue Devils drew even with Madison Country Day/Abundant Life/St. Ambrose 1-1, as Lodi took a 1-0 lead in the sixth minute on an unassisted goal by Anna Balfanz. The equalizer for the Country Day co-op came in the 51st minute.

    Then, Racine Horlick scored two goals in the first nine minutes in a 2-0 win over the Blue Devils, now 4-5-1 overall. Lodi is 1-2 in Capitol Conference play. Kyra Lou and Annabella Valdivia had goals for Horlick, as Addison Crane made six saves for Lodi. The Blue Devils had three shots on goal.

    On Tuesday, April 30, after a scoreless first half, Lake Mills tallied three second-half goals to defeat Lodi 3-0. Mollie Cooper scored two goals for Lake Mills.

    Quetzal Peterson made 14 saves for the Blue Devils.

    United

    Falling to 0-11 overall, the Portage/Poynette co-op suffered three losses last week, including a 10-0 defeat at Sauk Prairie on Tuesday, April 30. Abigail Sanderson made six saves for United in that game.

    Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld took a 4-0 lead into intermission and kept the pressure on in the second half of an 8-1 win over United on Friday, May 3. Lyla Brown had United’s lone goal, as Madison Fernandez assisted. Sanderson finished with four saves.

    On Tuesday, May 7, Stoughton downed Portage/Poynette 8-0. United is 0-5 in Badger Small Conference play.
