    Girls soccer: United wins first match; Lodi rolls past Richland Center

    Exploding for five first-half goals, the Lodi girls’ soccer team overpowered Richland Center 8-0 on Friday, May 10, three days after tying Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld 1-1.

    Anna Balfanz had a hat trick against Richland Center, while Gracie Clary finished with two goals and two assists.

    Ava Ballweg, Gianna Burke and Adysen Young had goals for Lodi, now 5-5-2 overall and 1-2-1 in Capitol Conference play. Lily Bartholomew and Addison Crane played in goal for Lodi.

    Against Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld, Balfanz put Lodi up 1-0 in the 14th minute, as Ballweg assisted. However, Wisconsin Heights/Barneveld scored the equalizer in the 39th minute. Neither team could break through the rest of the way.

    Crane made a save in net for Lodi.

    UnitedAnna Weisbrot’s unassisted goal in the 63rd minute gave the Portage/Poynette co-op its first win of 2024 in a 4-3 victory on Friday, May 3, over La Crosse Logan/Luther. The tally broke a 3-3 tie.

    Lyla Brown had a hat trick for United, as Addison Burton dished out two assists. Josie Gallegos made four saves as United’s goalkeeper.

    Earlier in the week, Stoughton blanked United 8-0 on Tuesday, May 7. Abigail Sanderson made four saves as United’s goalkeeper.

    Portage/Poynette is now 1-11 overall, with an 0-5 mark in Badger Small Conference play.
