    Baseball: Lodi opens postseason with regional wins over Baraboo, Mauston

    Lodi is still alive in postseason play.

    The Blue Devils’ baseball team pounded Mauston 11-2 on Tuesday, May 28, as Paxton Wyman drove in four runs and went 3-for-5 in a regional victory.

    Going 3-for-4, including a double, Ari Rasmussen scored three runs and had two RBIs, while Kale Schneider went 3-for-5 and drove in two runs.

    Matt Lincicum smacked a two-run double to help the Blue Devils’ cause, as Lodi collected 13 hits to improve to 16-9.

    Will Eckstein tossed five and a third innings to get the wins, surrendering only two earned while fanning five batters and walking five. Schneider and Alex Breunig each pitched a scoreless inning.

    The game was scoreless until the top of the fifth, when Lodi plated two runs. Mauston tied it in the bottom of the frame, but the Blue Devils scored four times in the sixth and added five more in the seventh to pull away.

    Lodi 7, Baraboo 1Eckstein again turned in an impressive performance on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing no earned runs, as the Blue Devils won their regional opener on Tuesday, May 23.

    Wyman went 1-3, scoring two runs and stealing a base. His hit was a double.

    Chase Stanek and Schneider each had two RBIs, as Wyman and Caleb Lord each drove in a run.

    Breunig tossed an inning, giving up one run, walking two and striking out three.
