    Capitol Conference reveals postseason honors

    Many Lodi and Poynette spring sport athletes received postseason honors from the Capitol Conference.

    Here are the honorees:

    Track and FieldLodi’s Izzy Bahe was picked as the Capitol North Conference’s Player of the Year.

    Individuals from Lodi and Poynette and a handful of relay teams earned first and second team honors, as well as honorable mention.

    Zach Nyquist (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles), the 800 relay group (Sawyer Baron, Jack Bozacki, Mason Lane and Brody Ripp), the 400 relay team (Baron, Aiden Groskopf, Bozacki and Lane), the 1,600 relay team (Zach Nyquist, Walter Beld, Ripp and Noah Houdek), Bennett Nyquist (long jump) and Gavin Sargeant (long jump, triple jump) all made the first team.

    The second team included the Jacobo Castillo Rosales (long jump), 3,200 relay team (Beld, Roger Melland, Everett Clemens and Connor Pecard), Bennett Nyquist (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, high jump), Aiden Groskopf (100 dash), Houdek (400 run), Melland (800 run), Henry Koeppen (discus, shot put) and Isaiah Groskopf (shot put).

    For the Lodi girls, Olivia Heyroth (100 hurdles, 300 hurdles, high jump, triple jump), Zoey Bahe (800 run), Rylie Wilcox (pole vault), and Izzy Bahe (discus, shot put) earned first-team recognition. Blue Devil girls who made the All-Capitol Conference Second Team included the 3,200 relay team (Zoey Bahe, Brook Endres, Sophia Himes and Dakota Pierquet), Wilcox (100 hurdles), Natalie Kelley (100 dash, high jump), and Reese Ryan (triple jump).

    Poynette’s lone athlete to earn all-conference honors was second teamer Chris Schwenn (long jump), the Puma girls were well-represented, with Piper Johnson (1,600 run, 3,200 run), Zayne Hushhagen (100 dash) and Mercedi Lapacek (high jump) earning first-team honors.

    Among those making the second team for Poynette were the 3,200 relay team (Hushhagen, Cora Larson, Geneva Ritzke and Madeline Serwe), Emma Yelk (100 dash, triple jump), the 1,600 relay team (Yelk, Serwe, Ritzke and Hushhagen) and Valerie Heth (shot put).

    Boys GolfLodi’s Walter Beld and Kogen Baron received All-Capitol Conference First Team honors.

    Softball

    Poynette players named to the All-Capitol North Conference First Team included Grace Gavinski, Karly Rivette and Kassidy McCaffery. They were joined by Lodi’s Bailey Stark and Brielle Burros.

    The Blue Devils placed Marah Lane, Elise Krumpen and Taylor Reese on the second team, which also featured Poynette’s Emma Gavinski and Morgan Gunderson.

    Among those receiving honorable mention were Poynette’s Addison Mackey and Lodi’s Natalie Hellenbrand.

    Baseball

    Lodi’s Alex Breunig (utility), Kale Schneider (outfield) and Eli Schneider were selected for the All-Capitol North Conference First Team.

    The second team included Lodi’s Mason Breunig (infield) and Paxton Wyman (catcher), along with Poynette’s Chase Maier (infield) and Brett Hackbart (outfield).

    Girls Soccer

    Lodi’s Ava Ballweg (defense) was the Blue Devils’ lone representative on the first team, while Gianna Burke (forward) and Gracie Clary (midfield) made the second team.

    Among those receiving honorable mention were Lodi’s Anna Balfanz (midfield) anbd Adysen Young (defender).
