A huge part of the Future Farmers of America is the competitions, these competitions allow members of the FFA to experience and participate in agriculture careers they are interested in.

The Logan Elm chapter of the FFA is proud to honor our 2024 equine team for their amazing job at the Ohio State Equine Career Development competition. They earned 2nd place out of 106 equine teams. Now the equine team will get to participate in the national equine competition in Texas.

Braves’ equine team has been practicing and learning this CDE for months. The Ohio State Competition consists of halter classes, halter questions, performance classes, performance questions, hay classes, an online test, and an online identification. Only the top 10 teams move on to compete in the finals. The final competition consists of a preliminary score, halter classes, and performance classes, both with oral reasons.

They also complete tests with a team scenario and presentation. This accomplishment was completed by Kimberly Petty, Mckenna Perkins, Lauren Perkins, and Laney Smith.

“This is an amazing accomplishment by these diligent FFA members!” said Tieana Stonerock, Braves’ FFA advisor.
