NASCAR penalty report released for races at Indianapolis in 2024
NASCAR has finished its only date at Indianapolis Motor Speedway during the 2024 season, as Kyle Larson won the Brickyard 400 for his third Crown Jewel victory. Larson was all good with inspections; however, three penalties are coming from the weekend in Indianapolis. All three of the penalties are relatively the same in the NASCAR Xfinity and Truck Series. Austin Hill’s crew chief Andy Street was fined $5,000 after one lug nut was found not safe and secure on the No. 21 Richard Childress Racing car after the Xfinity Series event. Street’s fine was the biggest of the weekend in Indianapolis, as the Truck Series had two smaller penalties for lug nuts. The penalties come from McAnally-Hilgemann Racing and Young’s Motorsports. Daniel Dye’s crew chief, Blake Bainbridge, and Thad Moffitt’s crew chief, Tyler Young, were fined $2,500 for one unsecured lug nut after the Truck Series event. None of these penalties are massive after several weeks of NASCAR debating big violations. Now, everyone can focus on the Olympic break as NASCAR returns in over two weeks. Indiana framing contractor cited by OSHA for violations in Perrysburg
An Indiana framing contractor working on projects in Perrysburg faces nearly $200,000 in fines after federal workplace safety inspectors found the company exposing its employees to deadly risks of falls twice in less than two weeks in May, the U.S. Department of Labor reported Thursday. The company, MDM & Sons Construction LLC, faces $199,761 in proposed penalties. It was cited by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for similar violations in 2021, officials said. “MDM & Sons Construction continues its dangerous pattern of exposing its employees to the risk of serious injuries and death related to falls from elevation, the leading cause of fatalities in the construction industry,” said Todd Jensen, OSHA Area Director in Toledo. “Federal law requires employers to provide and ensure the use of proper fall protection whenever people work at heights six feet or greater,” Mr. Jensen said. “If MDM & Sons Construction continues to ignore its legal responsibility to protect its workers’ safety, it may only be a matter of time before disaster strikes and an employee’s life is forever changed or ended. The company must act now.”
