Softball: 4 new teams leap into the latest Top 10 rankings, and there's a new No. 1

As the postseason looms, league play and two tournaments threw the latest Top 10 rankings into chaos, and a new No. 1 has emerged.

Here's a look at the fourth lohud Top 10 rankings of the high school softball season.

Top 10 rankings

1. White Plains (17-1): The Tigers take over the No. 1 spot this week as they continued to roll last week. They picked up a pair of league wins last week against Fox Lane and Port Chester, then won Nyack's Red and Black tournament for the second straight year behind the arm and bat of Alexis Tighe. Last week: 2
2. North Rockland (14-2): The Red Raiders went 3-1 last week with wins against Mahopac, Suffern and Clarkstown North. Their only loss to a Section 1 opponent this season came at the hands of Clarkstown South. Mia Valverde, Kerry Finnerty, Hannah Leon, Tara Murphy and Ava Jacobs have powered the bats all season. 3. Clarkstown South (13-3): It was a relatively quiet week for the Vikings but also a statement week. They won games last week against Arlington B and North Rockland. Last week: 3
4. Eastchester (13-1): With the playoffs around the corner, the Eagles' offense keeps trucking along. Led by the Peduto twins, Alyssa and Gianna, the Eagles offense continues to show a lack of a weak spot. Last week, they outscored opponents 38-7. Last week: 4
5. Harrison (11-3): The Huskies make the biggest jump this week as they just keep piling up the wins. Ace Gabriella Triano pitched her way into the Huskies' record book by notching her 600th career strikeout. Ava Taddeo, Barbara Jo Coppola and Jordana Yomtov helped power the offense. Last week 8
6. Tappan Zee (13-3): The Dutchmen return this week with a combination of tough league wins against Nyack, Nanuet and Pearl River, as well as a strong showing at the 44th-annual James Ace Morabito tournament, where they went 2-1 in the rain-shortened tourney. Last week N/A
7. Albertus Magnus (9-3): The Falcons had a good week with the bats, and have outscored Section 1 opponents 48-0 the last two weeks. They, like Tappan Zee and Tuckahoe, played in the Morabito tournament this past weekend. They went 1-1 in the rain-shortened weekend. Last week: 6
8. John Jay-East Fishkill (11-2): The Patriots make the jump into the rankings on the strength of wins last week against Carmel and Mahopac, and a split with Arlington. Don't sleep on John Jay-East Fishkill with the playoffs around the corner. Last week: N/A
9. Ardsley (13-3): The Panthers race into the rankings on the strength of a six-game winning streak dating back to the Breast Cancer Rivertown tournament they hosted on April 27. Ardsley is being led by the arm of Sofia Haber and the bats of Haber, Tessa Guernah, Emma Philip, Haley Albano, Sofia Ramirez, and Maddy Bennett. Last week N/A
10. Pawling (11-3): The Tigers are the last of this week's newcomers, on the strength of their offense. Last week, they outscored opponents 59-19. Lyndsey Cole, Autumn Tompkins, Josie O'Leary and Mikaela Mammola and the Tigers may have lost to Section 9's Pine Plains last week but they have a win over Rye Neck. Last week: N/A
