Meet the finalists that were catalysts on the diamond. The players' credentials are listed above the fan poll — which will be live until 2 p.m. Tuesday. The winner will be announced on lohud social media accounts on Tuesday night. Now, let's meet the candidates.

    Cat Arnold, Pearl River

The Pearl River senior shortstop went 3-for-4 and scored two runs in the Pirates' opening round win over John Jay-Cross River. She also tallied her 100th career hit in the 7-2 victory.

    Kate Brown, Yorktown

The Huskers' freshman was tough in the circle and played a big role in the 11th-seeded Huskers' 7-2 upset win over No. 6 seed Ursuline, last year's Section 1 Class A champion. Brown went the distance, giving up two runs on seven hits, while striking out eight batters and only walking one. Both of the Koalas' runs and three of their hits came in the first inning, but she settled down and didn't allow any other scoring plays after that. Brown also added a RBI.

    Andy Hegarty, Hackley

Hegarty gave up just one earned run on four hits while striking out 11 batters in Hackley's regular season finale victory over Horace Mann. She also had four walks at the plate, scored three runs and had a RBI. Then, in the opening round of the NYSAIS tournament, Hegarty went 4-for-4 at the plate, with two doubles, a home run and six RBIs. In the circle, she pitched a one-hit shutout, with 11 strikeouts and no walks in the 3-0 victory against Brearly.

    Gianna Longo, Nyack

She's played a big part in getting the sixth-seeded RedHawks to the Section 1 Class A semifinals. Longo pitched a complete-game two-hit shutout, with eight strikeouts, in Nyack's upset 3-0 win over third-seeded Ardsley. She also went 1-for-2 at the plate and scored a run, had a no-hit bid going into the seventh inning and reached the 600-strikeout milestone for her career. In their Section 1 Class A opening round win over Nanuet the day before, Longo pitched a no-hitter with eight strikeouts in the 3-0 victory.

    Shelby Preisser, Rye Neck

Preisser enjoyed another big week at the plate and in the circle. The Panthers' junior batted 6-for-9 with a triple, home run and eight RBIs over their wins against Pleasantville and Croton. As pitcher, she also tallied 22 strikeouts over both wins and allowed just four hits apiece to her opponents.

    Kaitlyn Rose, Clarkstown South

She had three hits, including two home runs, and a game-high six RBIs, with three runs scored, in the Vikings' Section 1 Class AA opening round playoff win over Horace Greeley.

    Alexis Tighe, White Plains

Despite a 12-day layoff from the Tigers' final regular season game to their first Class AAA playoff game, there was hardly any rust from Tighe. She pitched a complete-game, one-hit shutout with 17 strikeouts against Mamaroneck in the opening round of the postseason. She also batted 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.

    Gabriella Triano, Harrison

The Huskies' senior standout may be best known for her pitching prowess, but she also proved to be just as dangerous with her bat in the Huskies' Section 1 Class AA opening round win over Pelham. Triano went 3-for-4 and belted three home runs, racked up six RBIs and scored three runs of her own. The Carnegie Mellon-bound Triano also gave up just one run on two hits, while striking out six and walking none in the winning effort.
