New Rochelle police have made an arrest in the fatal shooting of a woman in a downtown apartment building.

Robert Wooten, 28, was scheduled for arraignment Monday on a charge of second-degree murder in the death of Meisha Williams. Wooten was taken into custody in Queens Saturday night, about 11 hours after police were called to 55 Clinton Place and discovered Williams’ body in her apartment, police said.

Williams, 30, and Wooten knew each other but the exact nature of the relationship or what led to the shooting was unclear. Police said Wooten's last known address was in Queens.

It was not known how long Williams had lived there. The luxury, 28-story rental building, also known as One Clinton Park , was completed in 2022 and its sister building Two Clinton Park opened in June.

A woman who answered the phone at One Clinton Park on Sunday morning said management had no comment.

Detective Lt. Brian Fagan thanked the NYPD's 103rd Precinct, the FBI Safe Streets Task Force, the Westchester County police Real Time Crime Center and the Westchester County District Attorney’s Office for assisting city police and detectives in the investigation.
