Some wet and nasty weather could make its way to the Lower Hudson Valley Monday evening, posing a slight flood risk for Westchester, Rockland and Putnam.

The National Weather Service said some hazardous weather conditions could cause problems in the area starting after 2 p.m. A chance of severe thunderstorms could bring wind gusts up to 40 miles per hour and even some brief hail, especially near the Sound Shore area of Westchester and Connecticut.

The storms are expected to leave some fog in the area on Tuesday morning until around 8 a.m., which could affect morning commutes.

The rest of the week is looking sunny and warm, perfect for any last-minute end of summer celebrations. However, the National Weather Service said some extreme heat could affect at-risk populations Wednesday.

Temperatures are expected to be around 93 degrees, but heat indexes could reach between 95 and 100 degrees in parts of the region, especially in Rockland County near New City. Hail, high winds and thunderstorms could also return briefly Wednesday afternoon.

Saturday is looking mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of showers in the afternoon. High temperatures could reach around 75 degrees. On Sunday, temperatures are expected to rise slightly to 82 degrees for great conditions during the last official weekend of the summer.
