The Journal News/lohud Field Hockey Player of the Week poll launched last week with coaches nominating three athletes and readers casting more than 9,000 votes.

The win went to Nanuet senior Ashley Wain, who garnered 7,100 votes after registering a hat trick in the Golden Knights' win over Edgemont and doing a good job controlling the midfield in a win over Brewster.

With 1,420 votes, the runner-up was Ruby Wild-Arons of Hollow Cliff, the combined Sleepy Hollow-Briarcliff squad.

This week, coaches have nominated seven players for the honor.

Read about their performances below, then scroll to the poll to vote.

If you cannot see the poll, refresh the page. If you believe your votes aren't registering, try using a different browser.

You may vote as many times as they like and for as many players as they like.

But please vote soon. The poll will close at 3 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last week's field hockey poll: Vote now for the Player of the Week

    Ava Barros, Nanuet

The senior forward netted her first career hat trick in a win over Irvington before scoring to tie what ended up being a 1-1 game vs. Somers.

    Tara Costello, Albertus Magnus

The senior keeper appears to be heading to the national record books after stopping an incredible 50 of 52 shots in a 2-0 loss to Clarkstown. Fifty saves in a single game should place her second all-time in the country among high school goalies. And Costello also had other strong performances last week. She had six saves in a shutout win over Croton, had 28 saves in a first-round tournament loss to the combined Sleepy Hollow/Briarcliff Hollow Cliff team and had 19 saves against Panas in an overtime loss in the tournament consolation game. That brought her save total for the week to 103 in a sport in which team shots per game are often in the single digits.

    Kayla Gooden, Pleasantville

The undefeated Panthers went 3-0 last week, outscoring their opponents by a combined 18-4, thanks in part to the senior's defensive efforts. Gooden had multiple steals and interceptions in Pleasantville's defensive zone and helped ignite its offense with strong breakout passes.

    Kate Keating, Rye Country Day

The Wildcats moved to 2-0 on the season last week with the junior forward playing a big role. In a 6-0 win over Hopkins, Keating contributed to half RCDS's scores, netting a goal and recording two assists.

    Juliet Loffredo, Hollow Cliff

The defender, who's a senior at Sleepy Hollow and plays for the combined Sleepy Hollow/Briarcliff squad known as Hollow Cliff, scored twice and had two assists in a tournament win over Albertus Magnus. She was also strong defensively in two other games.

    Claire Pritts, Pearl River

Not all of the freshman midfielder's feats during three games last week made the score sheet, including standout efforts against Harrison and Lakeland in which she dodged multiple defenders, sometimes creating scoring opportunities for her team. But one effort did end up on the scoreboard. In a 3-0 win over Irvington, Pritts stole the ball, carried it more than 30 yards into the Bulldog defensive circle and rifled a shot into one corner of the net for her first career varsity goal.

    Emily Rodriguez, Nyack

The junior stood tall in goal in two games last week. Rodriguez, who's known for her strong angles and composure while under fire, had 22 saves to keep Suffern off the board in a 0-0 tie. One of those saves was on a penalty stroke. And against fourth-ranked John Jay-Cross River, she stopped 17 shots in a 5-1 loss.
