    Celebrate Oktoberfest with beer and food events in the Hudson Valley

    Get ready for beer and bratwurst across the Lower Hudson Valley all October long for one of the biggest fall festivals of the year. Here's a sampling of local Oktoberfest events in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam.

    Bear Mountain Oktoberfest

    Get transported to Bavaria in your backyard at one of New York's largest Oktoberfest celebrations. The Bear Mountain Oktoberfest celebration has everything from local beer, live music and traditional German foods. Try your hand at a stein holding contest for big prizes. The festival runs weekends from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. until October 13. Admission is free, but parking passes are $11. Guests 21 and over can also purchase a VIP pass for $150. The VIP experience includes unlimited food and drinks, a parking pass, exclusive access to a private section and souvenirs. Anthony Wayne Recreation Center, Bear Mountain.

    Sleepy Hollow's Annual Oktoberfest

    The autumn capital of New York is hosting its annual Oktoberfest celebration from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, September 28 at Kingsland Point Park. Enjoy Bavarian treats and beer from local restaurants and food trucks, live music and family friendly activities. Admission is free but parking is $5. Kingsland Point Park, 299 Palmer Avenue, Sleepy Hollow .

    White Plains BID Oktoberfest

    White Plains is bringing back its annual Oktoberfest block party from 1-6 p.m. on Sunday, October 13. Catch the best of German culture on Mamaroneck Avenue with a bar crawl, seasonal food stands and authentic German polka music. Games, contests and other family friendly activities are also available. Tickets are $11 online and $15 in person. Guests 21 and over must purchase a wristband to purchase alcohol. All purchases under the beer tent are cash only. Mamaroneck Avenue between E. Post Road and Maple Avenue, White Plains .

    Cross County Center Oktoberfest

    Cross County Center is hosting a weekend beer garden at The Green in the center of the mall from 1-7 p.m. on Saturday, September 28 and from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, September 29. The event includes live music, food and of course, plenty of beer from Yonkers Brewing Co. Guests are encouraged to come in their Bavarian best. All ages are welcome with free admission, but guests 21 and over must have a wristband to purchase alcoholic beverages. 8000 Mall Walk, Yonkers.

    Growler's Beer Bistro Octoberfest

    Growler's Beer Bistro in Tuckahoe is celebrating Oktoberfest with a full slate of local and German craft beers and traditional German food. The event starts at noon on Saturday, September 28 and includes live music, entertainment and family fun. Admission is free for all. 25 Main Street, Tuckahoe .

    Croton-on-Hudson Oktoberfest

    Croton-on-Hudson is hosting its fourth annual Oktoberfest celebration in the Upper Village from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 28. This year, over 60 vendors are expected at the event, selling food, craft beer, cider and more, sponsored by the Croton Tap Room. Admission is free for all. Rain date is October 5. Upper Village, Croton-on-Harmon .

    Lewisboro Lions Oktoberfest

    The Lewisboro Lions club is hosting an Oktoberfest celebration starting at 4 p.m. on Saturday, September 28 at Lewisboro Town Park in South Salem. The event features Captain Lawrence Brewery beer, food trucks, face painting, live music and a cornhole competition. The entry fee is $20 per car. Those looking to participate in the cornhole competition should register online in teams of two. Team registration is an additional $40 not included in the admission fee.     New York Boulders Oktoberfest

    Celebrate Oktoberfest at Clover Stadium in Pomona from noon to 6 p.m. on Saturday, October 5. Over 20 tap beers and food trucks will be available while live bands perform and college football plays on the big screen. Tickets start at $8 per person. 1 Palisades Credit Union Park Drive, Pomona.

    Garner-Oktoberfest in Haverstraw

    Hudson's Mill and Round Table Brewery in West Haverstraw are hosting a joint Oktoberfest celebration, sponsored by Garner Arts, from noon to 6 p.m. on October 13. German food and beer will be available at the event, as well as a live DJ. Don't forget to sign up for the stein holding contest! Tickets are $75 for adults and $30 for children 5 to 12.     Ridgetoberfest at Ridge Hill

    Celebrate Oktoberfest at Ridge Hill's newly renovated Park Plaza from 2-6 p.m. on Saturday, October 19. Seasonal beer will be provided by Bronx Beer Hall, while families enjoy live music and entertainment, face painting and fall treats. The event is free to attend for all. 1 Ridge Hill Boulevard, Yonkers.
