    Halloween at Rye Playland: Fall fun for pets and special spooks for kids

    Trick or treat! This fall season, Playland in Rye is once again welcoming kids, parents and furry friends to take part in Halloween festivities.

    'Howl-O-Ween' season kicks off Oct. 7 at Playland with beach reopening

    Autumn activities kick off Monday, Oct. 7, with the re-opening of Playland’s dog beach. Starting Monday, folks can bring their canine companions for a romp on Playland Beach, which will be open to pups from dawn to dusk. Up to three dogs are allowed per owner.

    The fun continues for fur babies with the “Howl-O-Ween” Pet Parade, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 20. From noon to 2 p.m., Playland’s boardwalk and beach will be open to pets and their owners, who are encouraged to dress their furry friends (and themselves!) in costumes for some pawfectly precious fun .

    Kiddyland rides at Playland to be open weekends in fall for first time

    On last three weekends of the month, Playland invites guests to Kiddyland on Saturdays and Sundays from 12 to 6 p.m. for a series of events called Fall Fun October Weekends . Playland is providing extra access to Kiddyland rides and select food vendors for the special occasion.

    This is the first time Kiddyland rides will be open and available during fall weekends. Activities will include Halloween and Oktoberfest face painting, a bubble cart, craft tables for making masks or decorating pumpkins, plus performances by “Ol’ Gus Shivers” at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. each day.

    October at Playland: What to know

    To close out the month, Playland will host a Halloween Costume Parade on Sunday, October 27. More details about the Costume Parade, including the time, will be released in the near future; keep an eye out on Playland’s website and social media accounts for updates.

    Tickets for Playland’s Kiddyland Fall Fun October Weekends are $15 per person. (There is no admission fee for 2024 season pass holders.)
