Man charged in dog neglect case sentenced to probation
RIVERSIDE, Iowa (KCRG) - A former commercial dog breeding facility owner has pled guilty in connection to an animal neglect case from last year. In August 2023, Iowa City Animal Services assisted law enforcement with taking in 131 dogs as they investigated animal welfare concerns in the 3000 block of 540th Street SW in Riverside. Experts say physical exams showed that the dogs had developed conditions caused by failure of adequate care.

1 person killed in 3-vehicle crash in Muscatine County
MUSCATINE COUNTY, Iowa — A motorcyclist is dead following an afternoon crash in Muscatine County. According to Iowa State Patrol, a motorcyclist riding a 2022 Kawasaki was travelling southbound on Highway 38 shortly after 3:30 p.m. on Monday, June 10. Meanwhile, the driver of a 2016 Nissan Pathfinder attempted to turn westbound at the intersection of Highway 38 and Brookview Road. The motorcyclist struck the Nissan, and the car ended up in the southbound lanes of Highway 38. The motorcyclist continued driving and was then struck by a 2011 Jeep Liberty travelling northbound on the highway.

Washington Woman Saved From Drowning Vehicle by Passerby
The Washington County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call of a single vehicle accident with unknown injuries around 1:20am on June 11th. Upon arrival at Highway 218 NB & 320th St Crawfordsville, IA, deputies soon found a vehicle submerged to the door. The operator, Brenna Burlingame of Washington, was pulled from the drowning vehicle by a passerby.
New program dedicated to raising money, awareness for Iowa farmers diagnosed with cancer
IOWA, USA — A new program is hoping to raise money and awareness for Iowa farmers facing a cancer diagnosis. The American Cancer Society Iowa Area Board launched 'Farmers Against Cancer' in early June. The program works to connect rural Iowans to treatments and screenings needed to prevent, detect, treat and survive cancer. It also raises money and creates corporate partnerships to fund other programs within the ACS that helps Iowans dealing with a cancer diagnosis.

Coralville man arrested for nearly two year old willful injury charge
A Coralville man wanted on a willful injury charge for nearly a year was taken into custody over the weekend. According to the initial arrest report of July 30th 2023, 26-year-old Maurice Yarbrough of Sweeting Lane was on the 100 block of South Clinton Street at around 2:15 am when he punched the victim in the face without justification. The force of the blow knocked the victim’s front tooth out.

Hawkeye Wrestling Club athlete Cobe Siebrecht is the lone U.S. wrestler entered in this weekend’s Matteo Pellicone Memorial, which is set for June 14-15 in Sassari, Italy. Siebrecht, who is a Senior student-athlete at the University of Iowa, will compete in the men’s freestyle 70 kg division. The Lisbon, Iowa, native was a NCAA qualifier for the Hawkeyes at 157 pounds in 2023. On the freestyle side, Siebrecht took fourth place at the 2022 U23 Nationals and was an eighth-place finisher at the 2020 U20 Nationals.

Musician, Sam Young, spent much of the 90s touring across the nation with The Samples. During that time, they sold a million albums.
