The Hillcrest Academy Raven baseball and softball teams travel to Mediapolis Monday for a Southeast Iowa Superconference doubleheader with the Bulldogs and Bullettes. The Raven boys are 6-1 this season after a 9-3 win at Highland on Friday, where Lawson Schrock belted a home run to lead the way. On the season, Hillcrest is hitting .272 as a team with a .419OBP and .354 slug, with 62 runs on 56 hits, with 44 walks and 55 strikeouts. Individually, Rowan Miller is hitting .545 with a team best 12 hits and 10 driven in. Seth Ours has scored a team high 12 times. IOWA CITY, Iowa (KCRG) - Hills Elementary School officially closed Wednesday leaving people to figure out what they’re going to do next. The Iowa City School Board decided to close the school as part of a plan to cut $7 million from its budget. The school has been a part of the district since the mid-60s. It had the lowest enrollment of any of the district’s elementary.
Iowa City man facing assault and child endangerment charges
An Iowa City man was arrested over the weekend after allegedly assaulting a woman while she was holding their son. Police say the incident occurred at approximately 4:20 am Sunday at the Broadway Street residence of 29-year-old Tresor Echa. He and the victim were involved in a verbal altercation in the couple’s bedroom when she picked up her son. Echa allegedly pushed the woman onto the bed while she was holding their son. He then reportedly hit her in the face multiple times and gave her a bloody lip.
