Angel’s Share Promises To Bring 100 Different Whiskies to Belmont Shore

A new whiskey bar and restaurant is replacing Long Beach Tap House in Belmont Shore . Angel’s Share , named after the small amount of whiskey that evaporates during the aging process, will host its grand opening on June 6 .

Set inside an intimate space with dark walls, cognac leather booths, gold accents and black marble flooring, the vibe is distinguished and elegant. The entire bar will only hold eight tables alongside its 20 bar seats, with eight more tables on the patio.

“We’ll have 100 different kinds of whiskey as well as specialty drinks, plus our Instagram-worthy Cloud 9 presentation cocktails,” said restauranteur Jack Walls , who helms the bar with his wife Amy Wu , executive chef Melissa Ramsay and beverage director Richard Nuon .

The 32 taps leftover from Tap House will continue to be put to use with a mix of local, national and international craft beers that “you wouldn’t normally find in Long Beach,” according to Walls, like Epic’s Son of Baptist Stouts, Russian River’s Pliny the Elder and Burley Oak.

“Our goal is to educate our guests and make them passionate about what they’re drinking,” Nuon chimed in. “We know people aren’t just paying for a drink, they’re paying for an experience. Our barbacks and servers will have the knowledge to say, ‘Hey, if you really like Jack Daniels, try this.’ And while the cocktail menu is whiskey focused, we’ll also have a full bar with agave spirits, tequila, vodka, gin, rum. We’re catering to all audiences here.”

Drinks aren’t all customers will find at Angel’s Share. The kitchen, headed up by chef Ramsay, will offer California coastal fare with an east coast flair and dishes that elevate the bar’s extensive whiskey collection.

“In essence, we’re a scratch kitchen. Even down to some of our plates, which are made by local artists. We’re sourcing a lot from local food vendors and farmers and are planning some really cool seasonal menus with seafood, small plates, main dishes like lambs and steaks, things that will pair really well with our cocktails and whiskies,” Ramsay told WNLA .

Chef Ramsay also owns Fresh Off The Yacht, a globally inspired fine dining popup, catering and events company.

Angel’s Share will be open for lunch and dinner daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and plans to launch weekend brunch hours following their grand opening.
