The El Dorado Duck Pond in Long Beach is open again Thursday after two years of renovations.

The older pond was built in the 1950s. KNX News’ Emily Valdez spoke to Long Beach residents about the new and improved duck pond.

“It [duck pond] had disease in the water and the ducks were dying,” Gary, who's lived in Long Beach for 30 years, said.

He explained the renovations were done to get the ducks healthy again and to clean up the water.

Gary said the duck pond is now beautiful and much cleaner than before.

There are no fish in the pond. People have been asked not to feed the ducks and to not dump any turtles or other animals into the pond because they won’t survive.
