Long Beach Township Police & Area Departments Offering Jr. Police Academy in August

LONG BEACH TOWNSHIP, NJ - The Long Beach Island Police Department has announced the first ever Long Beach Island Jr. Police Academy, hosted by the Long Beach Township Police Department .

The Jr. Academy is open to ages 10-12 and will take place from August 19-23 from 8a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. The deadline to sign up is August 1.

"The Academy is a week-long “camp” designed to give students an overview of policing," LBT Police shared. "Students will interact with their peers and Police Officers in a variety of ways, including classroom instruction, physical activities and hands-on demonstrations."

To apply, students must complete the following:

1. Completed application

2. One letter of recommendation from a teacher or principal (A teacher's letter can be substituted with a letter from a police officer, firefighter, or EMT)

3. Completed medical certification form

4. Signed medical release form and civil liability form

5. Signed media release form
