Fire closes U.S. 395 south of Pendleton
—— UPDATE AT 2:30 p.m. Tuesday: Pendleton Fire and Ambulance and six other agencies combined forces to put out the fire that was started by a motor vehicle accident. Chief Tony Pierotti says that Umatilla Tribal Fire, the Oregon Department of Forestry, the BIA, Umatilla County Fire District Number 1, Echo Fire and Pilot Rock Fire helped extinguish the blaze.
Christian Science building survey results are in
PENDLETON – A survey of what Pendletonians want to see happen to the Christian Science building at South Main Street and Southwest Byers Avenue was held during the month of May. Now the results are in and the Christian Science Building Community Outreach Subcommittee will report the results to the Pendleton City Council when it meets at 7 p.m. today (Tuesday). The city was given the building by the Bisnett family.
Oregon wildfire spotted near Blue River east of Eugene
A wildfire broke out Tuesday afternoon off state route 126 in the Cascade Range, sending a plume of smoke above the evergreens amid high temperatures and red flag warnings across western Oregon. Smoke was reported just after 1 p.m. north of Blue River Reservoir, about 50 miles east of Eugene.

Haze in Jackson Hole coming from wildfires in Idaho, Oregon and Montana
JACKSON, Wyo. — For those wondering where the haze that’s settled in Jackson Hole is coming from, the answer is wildfires to the west of the valley. The smoke from several large wildfires blazing in eastern Oregon, central Idaho and southern Montana is blowing east and settling in the valley, according to Brett McDonald, Meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Riverton, Wyoming.

In the late hours of Saturday evening, YCSO received a report from a man that he had just been robbed at knifepoint by 58-year-old Hector Carattini from Boise, Idaho. The victim told Deputies he and the suspect had a dispute over $10 that the victim gave the suspect to give him a ride. When the victim changed his mind and asked for the money back, the suspect grabbed a knife and threatened the victim. The victim left the scene unharmed and was able to give Deputies a detailed description of the suspect’s vehicle.
