Peter Kaplan is a trust assurance partner at Big Four accounting firm PwC, which he joined in 1988. Kaplan also serves as PwC’s Melville office managing partner and leads the firm’s business development efforts for the New York Metro private practice. He is also a member of the leadership team heading up the firm's mid-cap private equity business strategy.

Over his 35 years in public accounting, Kaplan has focused on assurance and business advisory services. He has a diverse array of experience serving both private equity and family-owned businesses, principally in the manufacturing, distribution, food and beverage, consumer products and retail sectors.

Kaplan’s clients have ranged from multinational companies to smaller, owner-managed businesses. Over the years, he has provided his clients with hands-on advice on various matters, including operational, financial, accounting, reporting, initial public offerings, internal control, and mergers and acquisitions. His specific expertise includes business development, enterprise risk management, corporate finance, accounting and generally accepted accounting principles.

Active in his community, Kaplan is a board member of the Long Island Association as well as Friends of Karen. He is a former member of the Hofstra University and SUNY Albany business advisory boards. He also served on the boards of the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, March of Dimes and Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. Kaplan’s professional memberships include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

The certified public accountant graduated from Hofstra University in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.
