LI Fight for Charity announces 2024 boxer lineup
With the return of the Long Island Fight for Charity boxing event this November, the organization has announced this year’s slate of charity boxers who will compete in the main event.
Fourteen local volunteer boxers from various locations throughout Long Island will be representing industries such as real estate, banking, finance, media, marketing, sales, construction and more. Each boxer has committed to raise a minimum of $10,000 for Long Island charities and nonprofits.

Discover Long Island, News 12 celebrate ‘East End’ partnership
Discover Long Island and News 12 have joined forces to revitalize and renew the network’s weekly East End show.
Highlighting this area of the Island for more than 30 years, the segment is now hosted by News 12 Anchors Erin Colton and Joe Arena. For its part, Discover Long Island’s Brianna McEnroe will provide a partner highlight letting viewers in on an inside scoop on some of the region’s top tourism spots. Airing on News 12 at 9:30 a.m. every Saturday and Sunday, the East End show features a 90-second “Spotlight” segment produced in-house by Discover Long Island. The partnership will run through the end of this year.
PRPLI honors those making an impact within their respective fields
The Public Relations Professionals of Long Island (PRPLI) held its 33rd Awards Ceremony on May 15 at the Westbury Manor. This year’s recipients were: Hilary Topper, president/CEO of HJMT Public Relations Inc. and HJMT Media Co. LLC. who received the Jack Rettaliata Lifetime Achievement Award. The Long Island Health Collaborative was awarded the Long Island Achievement Award. The 2024 Outstanding Media Award went to James Madore of Newsday.Nina McCann of Harris Beach PLLC, and the Long Island Business Development Council, received the Howard M. Blankman Outstanding Mentor Award; Lola Rivera, ZE Creative Communications received the Rising Star Award; and Isabella LoBue received the PRPLI scholarship award.
Ocean Financial Credit Union CEO honored by Hispanic Brotherhood
Joseph Tedesco, who serves as president and CEO of Ocean Financial Credit Union was recognized by the Hispanic Brotherhood at the organization’s scholarship dinner. This annual fundraising event is held to provide financial assistance to deserving Rockville Centre-based college students. Tedesco and his fellow honorees were also recognized for their leadership regarding outstanding services to the Long Island Hispanic community.
In August 2023, Ocean Financial announced a partnership with Hispanic Brotherhood, in which the Credit Union will provide financial education, resources and services to Hispanic Brotherhood’s members.
