Manton Truck Show bringing the big rigs to town July 26-27
MANTON — Big rigs take center stage every summer in Manton during the annual Truck Show, coming up at the end of July. Originally called the Buckley Days Truck Show, the event was moved to Manton a number of years ago and has been a popular summertime attraction since that time, drawing dozens of elaborately decorated trucks and hundreds of spectators to the area.

Water rate increase advised for AuSable Township
AuSABLE Twp. – The AuSable Township Board of Trustees was informed of a suggested 3% rate increase for water bills at its regular July 15 meeting. The suggestion for a rate increase was made by Cecelia Mende with Baker Tilly Municipal Advisors, the firm that was hired by the township to complete an analysis of the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund (DWSRF) program. Mende presented to the board at the meeting and was available to answer any questions. The 3% annual increase would start in 2025 if approved by the board of trustees.
4 rescued from burning boat on Northern Michigan lake
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, MI – Four people were rescued from a Traverse City-area lake after a boat caught on fire and they jumped overboard, officials said. All four people are OK after the incident on Saturday afternoon on Spider Lake, WPBN/WGTU reports. Other boaters took the group back to shore where they were treated by emergency medical services.

State police bust theft ring in Grand Traverse Co.
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY — On July 18, troopers from the Michigan State Police Traverse City Post received a complaint of a motorcycle stolen from a home in Blair Township. Through investigative efforts, community social media posts, and a string of anonymous tips, troopers located the truck and identified two suspects in less than three hours, officials said. Two men, a 40-year-old from Green Lake Township and a 38-year-old, were believed to be involved, troopers said. The 40-year-old man was interviewed at his residence, troopers said. The stolen motorcycle was not found, troopers said. The following day, troopers conducted a traffic stop in the early afternoon and developed additional investigative leads about a separate location in Green Lake Township where the second suspect was hiding, they said.

Police recover 3 stolen motorcycles, bust theft ring in Northern Michigan
GRAND TRAVERSE COUNTY, MI – Two men have been arrested and charged related to an alleged theft ring that stole at least three motorcycles, police said.
