Jets practicing in Traverse City skies before Jet Blast in Oshkosh
TRAVERSE CITY - Jet Blast Oshkosh is coming up and the jets have made a stop in Traverse City before heading over to the Cheesehead State. The Jet Association is a group of people who maintain and keep their jets flying. These Jets are historical to our history with one of planes being from Russia and flying in the Vietnam War. The Jets will be practicing tomorrow to get ready for the weekend. Michael Terfehr President of 45 North Aviation says, “So about 11 jets here. It’s not really a public show per se, but we get together so that we can practice formation flying and get warmed up so that we can go to Oshkosh.” If you are looking for a viewing spot, Boon Road will give viewers a site of the Jets landing and taking off.

William J. "Billy" Mende, age 63, of Interlochen, MI, formerly of Gowanda, passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2024 at the Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, MI. He was born on March 17, 1961 at the former Tri-County Memorial Hospital in Gowanda, one of five children born to Edmund Sr. and Judith (Gominiak) Mende.

Kaleva, Michigan Man Admits Guilt in Child Sexual Exploitation Case
A Michigan man has admitted guilt to charges of child sexual exploitation in a disturbing case of online predation. Richard Densmore, 47, from Kaleva, entered a guilty plea to a federal charge of sexually exploiting a child. This admission comes amidst allegations that he was part of an extensive network that relentlessly targeted minors online. According to The Detroit News, U.S. Attorney Mark Totten highlighted the gravity of the case and implored device users to be vigilant. "The guilty plea of Richard Densmore is an important step forward in our efforts to protect kids from the rising threat of sadistic online predators," Totten stated.
