Cattle Group Celebrates Record-Setting 25th Anniversary Convention
DEADWOOD, S.D. – Nearly 500 predominantly cow/calf producers, cattle backgrounders, and feeders from over 25 states recently gathered to celebrate R-CALF USA’s 25th Anniversary Convention in Deadwood. SD Caring for Canines hosts fundraiser at Braeburn Dog Park
RAPID CITY, S.D. - On July 6 and 7, Braeburn Dog Park in Rapid City became a hub of activity as a local organization raised money for dogs in need. South Dakota Caring for Canines is a non-profit organization that aims to provide rescue, shelter and veterinary care for abused and neglected dogs through fundraising efforts. The organization has set up a booth at the park to sell homemade dog treats and toys, with all proceeds going to support shelters that require assistance.
Eights to Host Box Elder Sunday
Sunday afternoon the Eights will face Box Elder for the first time as Post 315 will come to town for two big games in the South Dakota standings. The Box Elder team has a roster featuring kids more from Rapid City Stevens high school team, but their coming off a big split on Tuesday against Brandon Valley. Box Elder beat Post 131 3-1 in game one, but fell 13-3 in game two. Box Elder is 5-7 in South Dakota games and 6-9 overall. Pierre, at 4-20 and 3-12 in South Dakota games and the two are separated by less than a point in the standings. Both teams will have full access at pitching with both not having played in four straight days.
Black Hills events embrace Two-Spirit community
A three-day celebration by Uniting Resilience in Rapid City, S.D., celebrated Two-Spirit identity during the last weekend of Pride. A powwow with no gendered categories is an uncommon sight for most people traveling the powwow trail this summer. But the second annual He Sapa Nagi Nunpa Wacipi, or Black Hills Two-Spirit Powwow, in Rapid City made it work.
Post 22 wins in extra innings
RAPID CITY, S.D. (KOTA) -The Post 22 baseball team celebrated July 4th by taking the field for the Firecracker Tournament. The Hardhats matched up with Premier West. Early in the game Post 22 fell behind 3-0 and then 5-2. But Kelvin Torve’s guys rallied to force extra innings where they won 6-5 in eight innings. Post 22 is now 2-0 at the Firecracker Tournament and will play Missoula Friday at 7:00.
