F.E. Warren Air Force Base Posts Mountain Lion Warning
Officials with F.E. Warren Air Force Base near Cheyenne are warning people to watch out for mountain lions on base. That's according to a post on the base's Facebook page. The post says there have been multiple sightings of at least one of the animals on base recently. The post goes on to offer this advice: Keep your children and pets safe by not approaching any type of wildlife and backing away slowly upon an encounter.

Ringneck & Western Railroad Repairs Track After Flooding in South Dakota
MITCHELL, S.D. – In June, parts of South Dakota experienced heavy rainfall, causing flooding that impacted Ringneck & Western Railroad’s Chamberlain Subdivision. Along 55 miles of track, RWRR crew observed washed away crossings and culverts and other damage. According to a report from Watco, “entire sections of rail were left suspended where water carried away ballast and ties or carved into the shoulder of the railbed.” Crews began repair work on June 25th.

Strong Storm Potential This Evening, Tonight, and Tomorrow
Another round of potential storms will occur from Tuesday evening into Wednesday. A slight risk (level 2 of 5) and marginal risk (level 1 of 5) for severe weather have been issued for portions of North Dakota, Minnesota, and South Dakota. Although storms do not look overly likely through Eastern North Dakota or Minnesota this evening or tonight, it will be possible for a few storms to develop. If storms can develop they would do so in an environment that would support strong to severe storms with the main concern being hail and wind. In areas of North and Central North Dakota (within the yellow slight risk area), a couple of storms will be a little more likely this evening. Those storms would hold a potential for an isolated tornado, hail, and strong wind gusts.

CLEAR LAKEL, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) Jason Deroy, of Clear Lake, SD, was underwater spearing when he set a new bluegill record on Pickerel Lake in northeastern South Dakota on July 6. BROOKINGS, S.D. (MITCHELLNOW) South Dakota State University again tops the list for safest college campus in South Dakota, according to a new report by SafeHome.org. The recognition reflects the rate of violent crime per 1,000 students of which SDSU scores 0.24. SDSU is also the safest in the region when Iowa, Minnesota, North Dakota and Nebraska are included.
