SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) – Local non-profit ‘I Found Light Against All Odds’ is aiming to end homelessness among young women by raising money at their 7th annual golf tournament on Monday.

Held at the Twin Hills Country Club in Longmeadow, more than 115 people teed off to raise money for young women experiencing homelessness. The funds raised will provide shelter, mental health, and educational services to women, such as books and therapy.

Founder and CEO Stefan Davis says their mission is to help those struggling to become independent and successful, “Just to see all nationalities get together for one common cause, to help the young women that are in darkness and searching for light.”

On an average night, around 120 young adults experience homelessness in Hampden County. Davis says the non-profit is always looking for people to get involved and make a difference. The non-profit is hoping to open a new shelter next year.

22News anchor Ciara Speller and her mother accepted an award in memory of her father, Jeffrey Speller. The non-profit, ‘I Found Light Against All Odds’ honors Speller’s life and legacy, during its annual fundraiser in Longmeadow.

The fundraiser helps the organization provide shelter and vital services for homeless women.
It’s a mission that Jeffery Speller gave his unwavering dedication and commitment towards. “So grateful—never asked, he just did,” Davis adds. “It’s the least that I could do, as a brother, friend—so he is never forgotten.”
