NEW ORLEANS (WVUE) - Two rounds of storms are possible within the next 24 hours with a much drier air mass to follow by Tuesday. Severe weather is well to our north in Arkansas, Mississippi, and northern Louisiana. Those storms will move south overnight. And while many models are trying to dissipate them before they make their way to our area, we must be open-minded that a few could still linger as strong overnight into early Monday morning.

Recently scored a major victory when Greenfield Louisiana LLC announced it was canceling plans to build a grain export facility in Wallace, a majority-Black community in St. John the Baptist Parish. Led by The Descendants Project, activists fought the proposed facility for three years by raising environmental and racial justice concerns. Greenfield said it pulled the project because the Army Corps of Engineers has delayed permits. The Corps said it needed time to evaluate the project’s impact on the sensitive area.

Shreveport Gasoline Prices Continue to Decline Amid National Downward Trend
Shreveport, LA – The average price of gasoline in Shreveport has seen a slight decrease of 0.7 cents per gallon over the past week, bringing the current average to $2.89 per gallon, according to a recent GasBuddy survey of 177 stations in the area. This marks a 4.6-cent drop from a month ago and a significant 41.1-cent decrease compared to the same time last year.

1 Shreveport firefighter injured after responding to second fire at same location
SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - INFORMATION PROVIDED BY SHREVEPORT FIRE DEPARTMENT:. On Sunday, August 18, 2024, the Shreveport Fire Department responded to two structure fires at the same address in the 1800 block of Gilbert Drive. The first fire was reported at 6:51 PM. Engine 7 arrived on scene within three minutes and discovered a house fully involved in fire. It took the efforts of thirty-one (31) firefighters operating thirteen (13) units to bring the fire under control at 7:11 PM. No injuries to citizens or firefighters were reported during this incident.
