LONGVIEW, Texas ( KETK ) – The City of Longview is currently updating their Five-Year Consolidated Plan for Housing and Development and they want the public’s input.
Demolition of Longview Swim Center to move forward after city council vote The city’s five year plan will decide how they’ll use grants from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to create things like affordable housing or improved broadband.
The public can help them update the plan by taking a 22-question survey . Here’s some examples of prompts from the survey:
- “The City of Longview should use HUD money to help provide: Emergency repair dollars to respond to natural disasters.”
- “The City of Longview should use HUD money to help provide: Places for the homeless to live.”
- “The City of Longview should use HUD money to help provide: New or repaired public transportation shelters, benches, and equipment.”
The City of Longview will also be holding the following public meetings to talk about the plan with the public:
- July 1 – 5:30 p.m. – Broughton Recreation Center, 801 S. MLK Blvd.
- July 4 – Booth will be at the Fireworks Celebration during daylight hours, 1123 Jaycee Dr.
- July 9 – 5:30 p.m. – Longview Public Library, 222 W. Cotton St.
- July 17 – 5:30 p.m. – Broughton Recreation Center, 801 S. MLK Blvd.
- July 18 – 5:30 p.m. – Online Zoom Meeting
- August 8 – 5:30 p.m. – City Council Meeting, 300 W. Cotton St.
