Patriots RB, Longview native, JaMycal Hasty hosts Back to School Celebration

LONGVIEW, Texas ( KETK ) – New England Patriots running back and Longview native JaMycal Hasty and his Barehandz Foundation hosted their Back to School Celebration on Saturday.

“JaMycal is giving back to his community, and we are so grateful, my son was able to get a hygiene pack, clothes for back to school, and that’s just one less thing that we have to worry about, so we are so grateful and thankful,” said parent Antionette Miles.

Longview ISD pre-registered families got uniforms, food gift cards, free haircuts, free braids and locs, hygiene packs, coupons and backpack packs at the event. The celebration was held in collaboration with Longview ISD at Foster Middle School from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Families were also able to drop off used uniforms and hygiene products to help fill campus uniform closets. Hasty showed up to the celebration to thank everyone for the support and to sign autographs for fans.

A Mr. Freeze snow cone and ice cream truck also attended the event to provide treats to beat the heat.
