Davis announces retirement from coaching

After nearly four decades in the dugout and guiding traffic at third, Tri-City United head baseball coach Bruce Davis has announced his tenure with program has come to an end with the conclusion of the 2024 season.

Having coached for one season with Claremont H.S., Davis joined the Montgomery-Lonsdale baseball program, which eventually merged with Le Center to form Tri-City United, and has helmed the program for 37 years.

With over 440 victories in his time as a head baseball coach, there have been countless highlights for Davis who helmed the 1999 state champion Montgomery-Lonsdale RedBirds that celebrated their 25-year anniversary this season.

Davis’ retirement announcement is written below.

“After 38 years as the Head Baseball Coach, one year at Claremont High School and 37 years at Montgomery-Lonsdale and Tri-City United I have decided to step down from my position as the Varsity Baseball Coach at Tri-City United High School. The timing of this decision seems right for my family and myself. I am leaving this position very proud, happy, and filled with a lifetime of baseball memories and relationships that I will treasure forever!

The success we have had as a baseball program in my time as the Head Baseball Coach has been a collaborative effort between very talented players, supportive families, a strong youth program, top quality Athletic Directors, and very dedicated assistant coaches. I am grateful to all of these individuals, especially the players who have made this job worth doing for 38 years.

Last but not least to my wife Char and kids Kelsey and Brad. You guys had to put up with crazy schedules from March to June and you had to take on many extra demands on the home front for all of these years. Without your support from home, none of this would have been possible.

Thank you for all you guys have done for the past 38 baseball seasons. I now look forward to a slightly more relaxed future, filled with a variety of our new adventures together.

It is now time to step down as the Head Baseball Coach at TCU but never from the love or spirit of the game.
