I-55 bridge project: $394M federal funding secured for rebuild over the Mississippi River
A new and improved Interstate 55 bridge is coming soon. Officials including U.S. Rep. Steve Cohen and Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee announced Friday that a $394 million grant from the federal government would be going towards the rebuilding of the I-55 bridge, also known as the America’s River Crossing Bridge.

Deputies searching for Georgia couple they say stole items from woman’s gravesite
Deputies are searching for a North Georgia couple who have been accused of stealing items off a woman’s grave. Randall Ledford, from Catoosa County, lost his daughter Courtney in a car wreck in February. Courtney was buried at the Lakewood Memory Gardens South and Randall decorated it with solar lights, flowers, and pictures to honor his daughter. Ledford told WTVC-TV that he went to watch the 4th of July fireworks from Courtney’s grave when he noticed some things were missing.

Kennemer Arrested in Connection with Shooting on Boyd Street
A Brainerd man has been arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault and Possession of a Stolen Weapon after a shooting late Thursday morning. According to an East Ridge Police Department press release, officers were dispatched to a “person shot” call on Boyd Street at 11:43 a.m. There they encountered a suspect who was quickly detained without incident.
