WENATCHEE — The Chelan-Douglas Health District took to Facebook on Tuesday to officially address circulating rumors of toxic algae blooms in the Columbia River. Cyanobacteria is an algae most commonly found in lakes and ponds. The algae appears as a green, blue scum atop the water and can be toxic to both pets and humans; causing both nerve and liver poisoning.
