CEDAR BLUFF, VA (LOOTPRESS) – Executives from Pure Salmon Virginia held a strategic planning meeting with local stakeholders at Southwest Virginia Community College to confirm timelines and vital construction deadlines for the expansive aquaculture facility located in Tazewell and Russell Counties, known as “Project Jonah.”

Leading the discussion was Karim Ghannam, CIO with 8F Asset Management whose funds own Pure Salmon Global, announced that the next phase of construction will begin early summer 2024.

In addition to earthworks and soil remediation before foundation and piping, a collaborative effort with Tazewell and Russell Counties to construct necessary water and sewer as well as road access to the facility will begin simultaneously.

Andy Hrovatic, Chairman of the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors, expressed enthusiasm about the project’s process.

“We are thrilled to witness the advancement of this transformative project which will bring hundreds of jobs and millions in investment to our community, benefiting not only Tazewell County but the region,” Hrovatic said.

Pure Salmon also announced a $200,000 donation to the Southwest Virginia Community College (SWCC) Educational Foundation.

The donation was allocated following recommendations from Delegate Will Morefield, Senator Travis Hackworth, and the Tazewell County Board of Supervisors and will be utilized to provide scholarships to high school seniors in Tazewell County who select to attend SWCC.

County Administrator Eric Young expressed gratitude for Pure Salmon’s investment.

“We are profoundly grateful for Pure Salmon’s support in educating our region’s youth. Their enduring commitment to our community and its people is commendable,” Young said.

Supervisor Hrovatic added by stating “We appreciate Pure Salmon’s commitment to developing the workforce necessary to bring this project to fruition.”
