PUTNAM COUNTY, WV (LOOTPRESS) – Bailey Philyaw, a dedicated Girl Scout from Putnam County, has earned the prestigious Gold Award, the highest honor in Girl Scouting.

As a rising Ambassador in the Girl Scouts of Black Diamond Council, she undertook a project to enhance the Girl Scouts’ representation at the World Scouting Museum, which was recently located in Charleston, West Virginia.

Philyaw’s initiative, the West Virginia Scout History Awareness project, aimed to ensure that Girl Scouts are well showcased at the museum. She played a key role in creating a guided audio tour and setting up display cases featuring vintage Girl Scout uniforms, among other contributions.

By achieving this award, Philyaw has demonstrated exceptional leadership and citizenship skills, establishing herself as a community leader. Beth Casey, the chief executive officer of the Girl Scouts of Black Diamond, praised Philyaw’s outstanding dedication, perseverance, and leadership in addressing a community need.

To honor Bailey and other accomplished Gold Award Girl Scouts, the community is invited to attend the Power Her Promise: A Celebration of Gold Award Girl Scouts event on Saturday, June 15, at the Charleston Marriott Town Center in Charleston, West Virginia.
